Selected Reference Works

Below is the list of selected reference works accomplished by SMEDA LLC Over the past years:
  • Preparation of more than 1,800 business plans and investment proposals for SMEs in Georgia;
  • Preparation of the National SME Policy study (205 pages) on behalf of the Georgian MINISTRY of ECONOMY;
  • Preparation of business profiles of more than 150 large Georgian enterprises through order from DELOITTE & TOUCHE;
  • Preparation of the “Georgian Fruit Growing Sector Study” document for UNDP’s FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) project;
  • Implementation of a “Market Study for X-ray and Ultra-Sound Equipment in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan” through order from PHILIPS MEDIZINE SYSTEM, Germany;
  • Preparation of market survey for basic food and healthcare products in Georgia by order of US company BOB WALSH ENTERPRISES;
  • Conducting of Market Research on Dairy Products’ Production and Import in Georgia by order of leading food manufacturer from Netherlands;
  • Screening of leading local food importers through request from the Netherlands’ BUSINESS SUPPORT CENTRE;
  • Preparation of a survey on current condition of small and medium business sector in Georgia (particularly in agriculture) by the order from US company NATHAN ASSOCIATES;
  • Preparation of sector studies and screenings of several Georgian industry sectors (textile, telecommunication, etc.) for international organizations;
  • Preparation of studies of several market segments/sub-sectors of Georgia ( production and import of footwear, production and consumption of poultry, beer and other food products, etc.) through orders from both large foreign producers/exporters and Georgian business companies;
  • Arranging and hosting of a 3 day Euro-Georgian Business Conference with 15 foreign and 50 local companies;
  • Organization and implementation of up to 50 training /seminars/workshops in the areas of business planning, general and financial management and marketing for start-up entrepreneurs and for operating enterprises and farmers' credit unions. These works were carried out both through “SMEDA Ltd” ‘s own initiative as well as through multiple orders from such international organizations, projects and foundations as UNDP, TACIS, CARE, SIBLEY, UMCOR, COUNTERPART, SOROS FOUNDATION (Open Society-Georgia Foundation), CONSTANTA FOUNDATION, MERCY CORPS, etc;
  • Implementation of the program on “Informational and Technical Service for Georgian SMEs. The Project was sponsored by Open Society - Georgian Foundation OSGF (Soros Foundation);
  • With purpose of introduction of International Standards of Accounting into Georgian business practices, through funding from USAID and the employment of services of the invited visiting qualified financial managers from USA, SMEDA LLC provided about 100 small and medium companies in Georgia with necessary knowledge and experience on International Standards of Accounting. The project was implemented in collaboration with the US organization “Citizen Democracy Corps”(CDC);
  • Organization and implementation of 5 training programs for Georgian entrepreneurs/company managers (for total number of 148 participants) in Athens, Greece, through the support from the Greece’s State Agency for Small & Medium Business Development EOMEX and the Ministry of Economy of Greece;
  • Selection of participants and organization of business trip to ANUGA international food products fair in Cologne, Germany, for the group of Georgian food producers. through the support from the Ministry of Economy of Germany;
